Leadership

No one enjoys difficult or conflict-based conversations, especially involving people you care about and have been working with for years. However, approaching these conversations with honesty and an end purpose of bettering the individual can lead to dramatically different outcomes and improve your organization’s culture.

This one-hour introductory session will provide participants a deeper understanding of what it means to be anti-racist. Participants will be guided through personally reflective exercises while engaging in thought-provoking dialogue. This session will provide and support foundational skills to be more conscious about the role of race, racism, and power.

In "Mindfulness and Stress Management," the key message revolves around finding balance in a demanding environment. Participants explore the benefits of mindfulness in law enforcement leadership, practice stress-reduction techniques, and create a personal plan to integrate mindfulness into their daily routines.

Law enforcement requires leading during crisis, trusting your teams and accepting/leveraging their individual contributions. Intelligence led decisions and humility are key components of tactical leadership. During this discussion we are going to talk about preparing in advance for crisis, strategies to manage information and decisions, as well as contributions of formal and informal leaders.

Due to the nature of law enforcement work, officers are being impacted by the stress on an emotional level and we’re talking about it to one another more than ever before. Whether you’re an official leader, peer support team member, or a peer you’re likely to be faced with a conversation from a co-worker on how they are handling things emotionally. Dr. Rachelle Zemlok, Police Psychologist, is joining us on a webinar to discuss the risk factors we face, healthy habits that lead to resilience and recovery, and the skill set we need to best support our peers emotionally when conversations come up.

Our Financial Wellness Class for First Responders offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip participants with essential financial knowledge and strategies tailored to their unique needs and circumstances. In this class we cover a range of topics crucial to building a solid financial foundation and securing financial peace of mind for participants and their families. We will cover debt management, budgeting, family protection, tax diversified retirement savings strategies, proper asset allocation, pension planning and much more. Our Financial Wellness Class is designed to empower first responders with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate their financial journey with clarity and purpose.
New Initiatives & Programs

Ivonne Roman will discuss the research on outcomes associated with women in policing and barriers that contributed to the stagnation of police women’s representation in American policing over the past 30 years. Roman will provide insight into the national movement, 30x30 initiative, and provide examples of low-cost and no-cost solutions to increase the representation of women in policing.

This training session will focus on leveraging data analytics in law enforcement. With integrated data, law enforcement leaders can more easily ingest, analyze, and pull insights from various data sources. We will teach the WLLEF community the impact data-driven decision-making has on proactive crime prevention.
Communications

Leadership roles in law enforcement are often coupled with hard decisions, tense situations, and long days spent communicating with your agency and the community you serve. Being a leader during a crisis isn’t easy- being a great leader during a crisis is even harder.
